The Spartans of ancient Greece were a group of men who were held together by the strongest of brotherly bonds to stand strong against any opponent. The Bloomington Spartans rugby players are expected to represent their namesake in the fullest. Rugby is a game played by gentleman. Spartan players are expected to conduct themselves with respect, honor, and integrity on and off the field. Unsportsmanlike conduct, foul play, and arrogance are some things that we do not stand for as rugby players. Players are to hold themselves to a high standard, making sure that they represent their team, friends, sport, and most importantly themselves in the best way possible. The sport of rugby requires sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication to succeed. The goal of the Bloomington Spartans is to better ourselves on and off the field by working relentlessly towards our goals as gentleman, athletes, and community members.
PracticePractice is to commence at 4 pm sharp. This means all players must be present, dressed, and ready to begin by 4. It is suggested players should be there 15 min. early to get ready.
All players should be dressed in cleats (baseball cleats not acceptable) and appropriate athletic wear. This includes a mouth guard and a water bottle. We will work and play at practice. You must be ready for all drills and games. Practices will be hard and fun. It is expected that players come focused and ready to participate. If player can not make it to practice on any given day, they must notify the coaches within 24 hours with the reason. |
Game Day
Meet the team at a specified location (given at practice and in updates) place on time with all gear ready to go.
Gear needed includes the socks and shorts, needed for the uniform, and a pair of cleats. Proper gear is available to buy from the 'buy rugby gear and apparel' page. . A team jersey will be provided. Games often come down to the wire so focus on the game is of utmost importance. Players are expected to give their best effort and know that their teammates are doing the same for them. After EVERY game, players are to socialize and meet their opposition in a friendly matter. There is no bad blood off the field. Rugby is one of the most fun sports in the world, why ruin the fun with bad sportsmanship? |
